PYXIDAS's Networks
PYXIDA Drug Abuse Prevention and Health Promotion Centre is trying through close cooperation with respective bodies and services to strengthen the quality of its services and to establish links and alliances that advance the aims of prevention. What follows is a brief presentation of these initiatives.

Network of Prevention Centers of Central Macedonia
It was founded in 2000, after the encouragement of the Coordinating Service of the Prevention Centers of Northern Greece.

The network is made up of the 11 Prevention Centers (P.C.) of Central Macedonia: Prefecture of Thessaloniki: P.C. "Pyxida-Compass", P.C. "Elpida-Hope", P.C."Seirios" (2 Centers), P.C. "Alfa Network", Prefecture of Emathia: P.C. "Prosvasi-Access", Prefecture of Pieria: "‘Center of Communication and Prevention Against Psychodrastic Substances", Prefecture of Halkidiki: P.C. "Pnoi-Breath", Prefecture of Serres: P.C. "Oasis", Prefecture of Pella: P.C."Orama-Vision", Prefecture of Kilkis: P.C. "Nereas".

πατήστε εδώ για μεγέθυνση... The general aim of the Network is to establish and strengthen the communication and cooperation amongst the Prevention Centers of Central Macedonia. Through the exchange of knowledge and experiences, as well as through the common effort, we try to strengthen and to expand the activities and programs of the centers, so that the institution of preventative centers can gain a wider acceptance.

Specifically, the activities of the Network include:
- organizing joint functions
- co formation of programs of prevention for specific target groups
- organizing educational seminars for officials of the centers of Central Macedonia
- forming joint proposals aiming at resolving institutional and functional problems of the centers of prevention
- coordination of activities and the adoption of a joint stand regarding the cooperation of the network with other bodies
- creating working groups that explore common methodological tools

Aiming at strengthening the functions of the centres through cooperation, solidarity and the coordination of activities in the common field of prevention, the following groups have been formed:
- scientific coordinators groups for institutional and scientific issues
- officials groups for activities in:
1. School communities
2. Volunteers
3. Teenagers and young people
4. Military camps
5. Parents

Also:
On a regular basis, joint meetings of the above mentioned two groups are taking place, in order to monitor and to coordinate the activities of the Network.

Cooperation with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Macedonia
PYXIDA is aiming at having a close association with the scientific community so that its activities can be supported, in general and, so that its work in the field of prevention can also be scientifically supported.
Specifically:
A memorandum of cooperation for the undertaking of research aiming at evaluating the programs of PYXIDA has been signed, since 2003, with the Child Development and School Psychology Department in the department of Psychology at the Aristotle University.
PYXIDA is a place where postgraduate psychology students from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and students from the Department of Educational and Social Policy from the University of Macedonia, carry out their practical classes, whereas previously, a similar cooperation was in place with the Program of Specialization in Counseling ASPAITE.

"Diavlos" Information and Communication
The Center for Prevention PYXIDA is participating in the editorial board of the electronic magazine “Diavlos”. Diavlos (e-mail: diavlos_prolipsi@yahoo.gr), which intends to be the electronic expression of a wider process, aiming at informing, communicating and cooperating with all those who are interested and who work in the area of prevention. Today’s participants are the scientific groups of the 11 Preventative Centers, communicating information for relevant activities, as well as view points and opinions regarding issues that are of interest to the scientific community in the area of prevention.
