Τhe two partners are:
a) Sending Organization: The Non Governmental Organization “A.E.N.A.O.” whose main objective is the promotion of no formal health education through the creation of health promotion and health education networks.
b) Hosting Organization: The NGO West Lothian Drug and Alcohol Service (WLDAS) whose main services include health promotion as well as education and training of health workers and volunteers. Morever, WLDAS is an institution which first included smoking prevention as part of it’s work in Scotlant.
The 14 beneficiaries from the NGO AENAO consist an inter-scientific team, (doctors, psychologists and teachers), who work as volunteers in AENAO.
This project is implemented due to the necessity for smoking prevention in the modern societies. The proposal is innovative and pioneering because it deals, within the framework of Leonardo’s mobility, with such a significant problem not only for the Greek society but for the E.U. too.
The project, therefore, corresponds to the Greek society’s special needs for proficient inter-scientific staff, which promotes the development of preventive strategies, introducing innovations in the current methods.
Main objectives:
-The development of the participants’ professional skills and the enhancement of knowledge on the preventive model
- The exchange of experience and know – how in no formal education.
- The training on innovative methods which will increase the effectiveness of smoking prevention policies
- The improvement of linguistic skills on professional level
Expected outcomes:
- The co – formation of innovative strategies and their utilisation in the local communities
- The promotion of inter-scientific approach, leading to the qualitative improvement of no formal education on health issues
- The establishment of constant European communicational networks
- The increase of gender equity in learning opportunities and skills development
- The participants’ acquaintance on intercultural level
The proposed plan met and promoted the above focal points through the placement of 14 beneficiaries in Edinburgh, which took place in the period of 20/03/2009 to 26/03/2009.
“Pyxida” Drug Prevention & Health Promotion Centre, participates in this project, as since 1998 it is implementing school and community prevention programs against tobacco, alcohol and drugs.
